BABY BOOMER MEN
Looking for Love: The Last Dance
This book was written specifically for men so
they may become aware of underlying issues and
barriers to understanding women, honoring the
differences between men and women, “stepping up to
the plate” and creating a loving relationship, and,
finally, pursuing a lifelong commitment.

Having had the pleasure of doing an
informal editing of this seminal book a year before it
was released, I've just had an opportunity to read the
finished version. Essentially Ms. Kennedy divides the
work into three parts. It begins with a montage of the
history of those of us called "baby boomers". The
elegant flow of events read like poetry and provide us
with an understanding of how many of us have arrived at
this place. Here we face our "last dance", either as an
understanding partner or as lonely superficial beings.
This leads to a third section examining choices and
actions we need to take if we are ever to escape the
predictable plunge of our life's roller coaster,
As a psychotherapist, this book will become required
reading for singles and couples I work with. As a Dean
of a university, I hope to incorporate some of the
important understanding from the work into a course we
give to our future physicians.
Ms. Kennedy shows her gifts as a writer, a thinker, a
scholar, an educator and a real person, in this work.
Her background as a social worker, an epidemiologist and
an artist blend nicely to add unusual insight. I highly
recommend the book.

As a Baby Boomer Women I was
interested to read what was being told to Baby Boomer
Men about finding happiness in a relationship at our
age. I was pleased to find that Ms. Kennedy is telling
men many of the things that I consider to be VERY
important in a relationship. She tells men the
importance of really knowing the woman, talking,
touching, knowing what makes her feel good. The simple
act of holding hands can be a real turn on. Very
important to understand that the other person doesn't
have to be just like you. That a man can be successful
in the business world and still be caring and aware of
the things that make a women want to be with him. This
doesn't make him any less a "Man". Very few of us want
to be alone and most of us want to be wanted. I hope
that Ms. Kennedy is considering a book for "Baby Boomer
Women". Men who are looking for a partner should read
and remember what she has told them, it can't hurt and
it may even help find that one special lady to share the
next 20 maybe even 30 years of your life. From page 90
"It isn't what you have in life--it's who you have in
your life that really matters in the end, at last. Who
will be holding your hand?"

Intelligent and insightful, Barbara
Kennedy has written a genuine textbook for dating in
later years. I truly enjoyed her perspective on this
under appreciated situation. The Last Dance is the most
important one.

A grieving widow reflects on her childhood and her marriage. With her husband
gone, the narrator turns her attention to art and grief, trying desperately to make something beautiful from such an ugly
situation.

Ms. Kennedy has captured “our stories” and poignantly conveyed the way to
heal ourselves...to forgive, forgive, and forgive! Her grace, courage and resilience as a caregiver are an inspiration. To
anyone who has cared for a person they love who is suffering from a terminal illness, and anyone working in hospice and palliative
care, this book is a must read. It will grab you and vividly pull you along on the roller coaster, emotional, exhausting,
journey of the caregiver. Her generosity in donating the profits from this book is indeed consistent with her generosity of
sharing her private story and insights with all of us. She is a builder of hope.

“Second Chance Ranch” is about life and living it to the fullest.
It is also about life beyond death. For romantics, it is a therapeutic story that will melt hearts and open the door
to a belief in second chances, however short lived. And, surprisingly, there is a happy ending. The book’s
unique format kept me reading, as I did not know what to expect with the next sentence, the next paragraph, or the next page.
I could not put it down—I read until 3 o’clock in the morning. It is truly an amazing and healing narrative! |

“Second Chance Ranch” triggers many emotions. Barbara Kennedy accurately
portrays a love that continues beyond loss and that loss does not end a relationship, it only changes it.

Ms. Kennedy is obviously an intellect, a free-thinking individual, an artist
who uses both words and pictures as her voice, and-above all-she is a unique storyteller. These stories are passionate, sensual,
intriguing, and mysterious but, in my opinion, the author saved the best for last. The Holding Pen, a story from which the
title of this book obviously evolved, is definitely a modern-day story; however, the messages conveyed are eternal-ones that
have spanned generations. Who wants to be in The Holding Pen? The Holding Pen-A Collection of Unusual Love Prose
is meant to be a "keeper." It is a classic, not soon to be forgotten! |

"An
eclectic set of meditations on love. In the first of these love stories, "Laina and the Vamp," Laina, a young dancer,
falls in love with a vampire who sleeps in a black lacquered piano. Enriched with fanciful drawings, this tale of two eccentric creatures succumbing to love is winning..." |
